The Independent National Electoral Commission on Saturday declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Fuad Kayode Laguda, as the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 bye-election winner.
The election took place in six wards of the council area, where the Femi Gbajabiamila held before his appointment as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
The Returning Officer of the election, Professor Ladipo Adebayo, of the University of Lagos, announced that APC candidate Mr. Fuad Kayode Laguda polled 11,203 votes, defeating the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr. Jerry Afemighie, who scored votes, while the Labour Party candidate, Adeola Adebanjo, scored 240 votes.
The total votes cast were eleven thousand nine hundred, and the rejected votes amounted to one hundred and thirty-eight votes.
