Former minister of women affairs under Buhari’s regime, Pauline Tallen, has called on the 2023 Presidential candidates of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar respectively, to support President Bola Tinubu, in building the country.
Tallen made this call while speaking during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
According to her, Tinubu’s victory is a “God project for the nation’s unity and stability,” noting that power comes from God.
She however urged Obi and Atiku to accept the verdict of the tribunal and ignored insinuations that the presidential election was manipulated.
It would be recalled that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal had upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 election, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, while the petitions filed by Atiku and Obi and others, seeking to nullify Tinubu’s election, were all disqualified.
Reacting to the development, the former minister said: ‘’The emergence of Tinubu as Nigeria’s President is a God project for the nation’s unity and stability.
“Recall the issues that preceded his election, like the controversial naira redesign, and the vicious campaign of calumny, among others which would have truncated his ambition.
“But somehow, despite all these odds against him during the campaign, he still emerged as the winner.
“This is a confirmation that leadership comes from God and when God designs it, nobody can stop it.
“In any contest, there is bound to be a winner and a loser; it is okay that they challenged the election’s outcome in court, which is within their constitutional rights but Tinubu is now reconfirmed by the tribunal as president.
“In the interest of Nigeria, if we all love Nigeria and we all plan to serve and build this country to an enviable height, we should all join hands and build a nation of our collective dreams.
“They have their ideas but Tinubu also has his ideas. If we all put these ideas together on the table and work with him, I believe we will all be better off for it.”
Mrs Tallen however expressed optimism that Tinubu’s administration would make a positive impact on the country.
