State governors have promised to supplement the Federal Government’s initiatives aimed at bringing assistance to Nigerians.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that this was said by Governor Bello following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Friday in Lagos.
He asserted that all levels of government must contribute equally to the effective implementation of the support pledged by the Federal Government to mitigate the negative effects of the elimination of fuel subsidies.
“Now that we have a leader, he needs all of our backing since he has clearly outlined his strategic orientation for reviving the economy and this support will be given by state governors.
“We are all prepared to bring people relief. We sympathize with their suffering and have faith that they will persevere through this tough time so that they can profit from the economic policies of the new administration.
“In this phase of the new economic path to a stronger and more resilient country, we shall not let down the President and we shall not let down our people.”
In a similar vein, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue stated that his government has already put together an action plan to bring back the state’s lost grandeur “after the long drought.”
The state administration, according to him, has developed quick plans to boost both the civil service and agriculture sectors as remedial interventions towards a vibrant Benue.
“A new dawn is coming to Benue, and the people of Benue, as well as all of Nigeria, may rest assured.
He added that he had started by focusing on the well-being of the government employees. which represents progress as he assured the people that other farmer incentives related to agriculture are in the works and will be revealed very shortly.
“I want to give Benue its former status as Nigeria’s food basket back. More valuable than crude oil is the state’s agricultural potential,” according to Alia.
State governors across the nation meet in national, zonal, and local fora, to harmonize policies and programmes regardless of their party affiliations.
