Activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, labeling it a “government of scammers” due to the alleged disappearance of the e-Naira.
Recall that the Central Bank of Nigeria launched the digital currency in October 2021, coinciding with Nigeria’s independence anniversary.
Former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele touted its benefits and safety compared to cryptocurrencies.
However, Sowore’s commentary on X suggests the e-Naira has failed to gain traction.
He sarcastically noted its replacement with “T-Pain’s T-NAIRA,” referencing current economic hardships under President Bola Tinubu.
Sowore’s criticism highlights concerns about Nigeria’s economic management and financial policies. The country’s currency has faced significant challenges, including volatility and inflation.
The disappearance of the e-Naira raises questions about the effectiveness of the Buhari administration’s economic initiatives and their lasting impact on Nigeria’s financial landscape.
Posting on X, Sowore wrote: “Where is @Mbuhari and @GodwinIEmefiele’s E-Naira? Has it been replaced with T-Pain’s T-NAIRA? Government of Scammers.”
