The 2023 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress and Convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, has taken a swipe at the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, over his Thursday’s press conference on the academic records of President Bola Tinubu, released by the Chicago State University.
Sowore who berated Abubakar via a post on his X handle on Thursday, October 5, 2023, described the former Vice President as one evil and selfish opportunist who celebrates crooks and vilifies the just amongst the Nigerian citizens.
According to the social activist, Atiku went ahead to form a political alliance with Tinubu because it suited him politically.
Expressing disappointment in the former Vice President over his claim that the late Gani Fawehinmi gave him the morale to continue the struggle, Sowore said when Fawehinmi exposed Tinubu as an alleged certificate forger, he was humiliated and his car got smashed, noting that Atiku ignored him, while the late lawyer died a broken man.
However, he claimed that the former vice president was one of those who did things for their selfish interest.
Atiku who lost the February 25 Presidential election, as well as the tribunal judgement against President Tinubu, had approached a US Court in Northern Illinois, to compel CSU, to release Tinubu’s academic records to him, to aid his court case against the President.
However, the American University released the documents on Monday, confirming that Mr. Tinubu was admitted and graduated from the institution in 1979, and indeed admitted as a male student to the school in 1957, against the claim of Atiku and other political opponents.
However, the Peoples Democratic Party flag bearer held a press conference on Thursday, to share his views on the certificate released by the CSU, commending the late Fawehinmi for starting the struggle in 1999.
Reacting to the development, Sowore tweeted: “When late Chief Gani Fawehinmi exposed @officialABAT as a fraud, a certificate forger, in 1999 he was humiliated, his car was smashed, the @atiku’s ignored him and he died a broken man.
“Atiku then went ahead to form alliances with him (Tinubu) because it suited him and his ilk politically. When in 2008 @SaharaReporters got hold of his drug forfeiture case file in Chicago, the platform was ridiculed and we were threatened.
“It is the case for those fighting relentlessly and selflessly for the betterment of our society either as advocates in the temple of justice, journalists, or citizens throwing themselves on the frontlines to bring about a sane society.
“I just read @atiku’s press statement today praising Chief Gani Fawehinmi to high heavens for starting this journey of discovery.
“Let it be known that what has kept this country down is the size of its evil and selfish opportunists who celebrate crooks and vilify the just amongst its citizens.
“This is why our position remains a revolutionary change of political order. #RevolutionNow.”
