In preparation for the 2025 Hajj, the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has flagged off a comprehensive medical screening exercise for intending pilgrims across the state.
According to The PUNCH, the inauguration ceremony, which took place at the agency’s headquarters in Sokoto, marks a vital step in ensuring the health and safety of pilgrims embarking on the spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, described the screening exercise as a sacred responsibility and called on the medical team to approach their duties with “honesty, patience, and dedication.”
“This assignment is a trust from God and the people. You must carry it out with sincerity and the fear of Allah,” he said.
Also addressing the gathering, the acting Executive Secretary, Alhaji Ladan Ibrahim, stressed the agency’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Sokoto pilgrims.
“Our focus is to safeguard the well-being of every pilgrim from this state, and this medical screening is a key part of that mission,” he stated.
The Director of Operations, Alhaji Abubakar Chika, emphasized the importance of diligence and integrity, urging the health professionals to “serve selflessly and uphold the highest ethical standards.”
Leading the medical team, Dr. Bello Attahiru assured that they are well-prepared to deliver quality healthcare and support throughout the Hajj exercise. “We are ready to commence the screening and provide every necessary medical assistance to ensure our pilgrims are fit for the journey,” he noted.
The screening is scheduled to commence on Saturday, beginning with intending pilgrims from Wamakko and Silame Local Government Areas.
