Nigeria Senate has appealed to the Federal Government, to collaborate with the Finish Government, to extradite Simon Ekpa, a self-acclaimed disciple of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Senate made this suggestion on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, following the level of unrest going on in the Southeast region of the country.
Ekpa who is the head of the Auto Pilot, a faction of the secessionist group has continued to influence his loyalists, to enforce sit-at-home order, which has been crippling economic activities in the southeast region of the country.
This sit-at-home order which is mostly enforced on Mondays has led to the death of several residents in the area.
However, while criticizing the unrest in the region, the red chamber during its plenary on Wednesday appealed to the government to ensure that Ekpa, a citizen of Finland is brought back to the country, to face charges.
The red chamber during the plenary, also resolved to invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs (when appointed) and other relevant stakeholders, to carry out a thorough investigation as well as bring other sponsors of the unrest to justice.
