Roma continued their impressive unbeaten streak in Serie A, edging Hellas Verona 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to make it 17 games without defeat and keep their Champions League hopes alive.
The breakthrough came just four minutes in, courtesy of Eldor Shomurodov. It was a well-crafted move initiated by Bryan Cristante, whose superb diagonal pass found Matías Soulé on the right flank.
The Argentine winger showed his flair, cutting inside before shifting back out to breeze past a Verona defender.
He then floated a perfectly weighted cross over goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò, allowing Shomurodov to nip in between two defenders and prod the ball home.
Despite early pressure, Claudio Ranieri’s men couldn’t build on the goal as Verona held firm for much of the encounter. It remained a tightly contested affair, with both sides limiting each other’s chances.
Yet, the visitors offered little in attack, and Roma managed the game with relative ease.
The victory lifts the Giallorossi above city rivals Lazio into sixth place, narrowing the gap to the top four to just two points.
