Ten abducted individuals, including six women and four men, have been rescued by joint security forces in Katsina State following a coordinated operation in Musawa Local Government Area.
The victims, who were taken from Kiroro, Kabbi, and Dogon Marke communities on Tuesday by suspected bandits, regained their freedom during a late-night mission on April 8, 2025, according to a statement issued Wednesday by Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.
“Based on reliable intelligence shared by members of the affected communities, a joint operation was launched at about 10:00 PM by operatives of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps and the Nigeria Police Force,” Mu’azu said. “The raid, which took place in Gidan Marke, led to the elimination of one bandit and the safe recovery of all kidnapped victims.”
The rescued individuals have since been reunited with their families.
Dr. Mu’azu noted that the success of the operation highlights the critical role of community intelligence and the strengthening collaboration among security agencies in the state.
“This mission underscores how effective our intelligence-sharing approach has become and reaffirms the synergy between various security outfits in Katsina,” he stated. “We commend the courage and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force and the Community watch Corps who carried out the rescue.”
He also reiterated the Katsina State Government’s firm stance on tackling insecurity, assuring residents that more efforts would be channeled into ending the menace of banditry.
“The administration of Governor Dikko Radda remains unwavering in its determination to protect lives and property,” Mu’azu said. “Our offensive against criminal elements will not only continue but intensify. We will keep investing resources to secure every community in the state.”
The Commissioner also called on citizens to maintain their support for security efforts by volunteering credible information. “Community cooperation remains our strongest weapon in the fight against kidnapping and banditry,” he added.
