Joint security forces in Katsina State have neutralised five suspected bandits and arrested three informants in a coordinated operation in Dandume Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out in collaboration with the police, military, Department of State Services, Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes, was launched following actionable intelligence on bandit activities in the area.
In a statement on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Police Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said the operatives ambushed the criminals along a known route in Dutsen Wori village around 4:15 a.m. on April 10, 2025.
“In a daring and well-coordinated operation, the security team successfully ambushed the armed bandits, leading to the killing of five of them and the recovery of seven motorcycles—four Hondas and three Boxers—used for their criminal activities,” Sadiq stated.
He added that a second operation, based on intelligence from the DSS, was carried out later that same morning in Unguwar Adam and Unguwar Judo villages, Danmusa LGA. During a gun battle, security personnel dislodged a bandits’ hideout, arrested three informants, and recovered two motorcycles and two bicycles.
“The arrested informants were allegedly responsible for providing critical information and logistics support to the bandit groups,” the police spokesperson explained.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the synergy between the various security agencies and praised their professionalism and dedication.
“These successful operations highlight our unwavering commitment to fighting banditry and ensuring the safety of our people. We remain vigilant and resolute in our efforts to maintain peace and order across Katsina State,” CP Shehu emphasized.
Security operations in the state are expected to intensify as authorities work to track and apprehend fleeing suspects.
