Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has expressed regret about the death of the missing Nasarawa Unversity student, Yusuf Mubarak who was found dead on Saturday.
Saraki who mourned the passing of Mubarak through a post on his X account on Sunday, September 17, 2023, said such loss must continue to serve as a constant reminder, that the security challenges in Nigeria must be quickly addressed.
According to him, the government must do everything possible to protect the lives of the young people in the country.
Late Mubarak who was said to have been seen last, on Wednesday, was declared missing on Friday.
However, the 27-year-old student was found dead, according to a journalist, Saeed Tijani on Saturday.
Reacting to the news, Saraki tweeted: “I am devastated to learn that Yusuf Mubarak, who was declared missing last Wednesday, has been found and confirmed dead. Another promising young life has been cut short by the mindless violence perpetrated by nefarious individuals.
“We must never become desensitized to the pain of the human tolls of insecurity. Such losses must continue to serve as a constant reminder that we have to urgently address the security challenges in our state, Kwara, and across the nation. We must do everything to protect our young people.
“As we mourn Yusuf’s passing, it is my deepest prayer that his family and loved ones find all the comfort that they need at this difficult time — and may our authorities be empowered to comprehensively investigate this case and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
