Rivers State Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has tasked the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Ibibia Worika, with spearheading efforts to restore law, order, and public trust in the state.
Ibas issued the charge in a statement following the swearing-in ceremony of Worika in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
During the event, the administrator emphasized the need for the new SSG to align every policy, decision, and action with the administration’s core mandate of restoring law and order.
“I urge you to ensure the stabilisation of the polity and create the necessary conditions for the restoration of democratic institutions and representations in Rivers,” Mr. Ibas stated. He further highlighted the importance of Worika’s intellect, dedication, and hard work in moving the state forward, adding, “Rivers state needs your intellect, grit and unweaving dedication; together, we will write a new chapter of progress for this great state.”
The administrator underscored the urgency of the task ahead, noting that there was no time for the SSG to settle in. He reminded Worika of the importance of civil servants as critical stakeholders in the administration, urging him to collaborate with them to ensure smooth governance.
In his address, Ibas also reflected on his initial promise to deliver effective governance based on transparency, accountability, and service. He called on the new SSG to rise to the demands of his office and offer his best service to the state.
Furthermore, Mr. Ibas appealed to permanent secretaries and civil servants to lend their support to his administration in the pursuit of shared objectives.
