The House of Representatives has decided to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape of a Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, from Nigeria on Friday, March 22, 2024.
This decision came after the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance put forward by Hon. Dennis Okafor during a plenary session in Abuja.
Okafor, in his motion on Wednesday, called upon the relevant committees of the House to look into and hold accountable those responsible for the escape of the Binance executive from detention.
It can be recalled that Nadeem Anjarwalla, one of the two Binance executives detained in Nigeria on charges of alleged tax evasion and other offenses, had escaped from lawful custody on Friday, March 22. Anjarwalla’s escape occurred from the Abuja guest house where he and his colleague were detained, after guards on duty took him to a nearby mosque for prayers during the Ramadan fast.
More details will follow as the investigation progresses.
