Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the recent meeting between the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
A former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, also attended the meeting which was held at Wike’s private residence in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Top politicians including former Cross River Governor, Donald Duke; Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom; Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, Ex-Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo; and a host of others.
Although the purpose of the meeting was not disclosed, Premium Politics recalls that Obi had met Mimiko last Thursday, 11 August 2022.
The Labour Party presidential candidate had also visited Wike two months ago and the outcome of the meeting remains undisclosed.

Obi’s first visit to Wike came amidst speculations that Wike may dump the Peoples Democratic Party, due to the fallout over the presidential primary of the party and the failure of the party’s presidential standard-bearer, Atiku Abubakar, to pick the Rivers governor as his running mate for the 2023 general elections.
Here are some reactions to the latest development.
@firstladyship tweeted, “While Nigerians were sleeping, men gathered. Peter Obi’s energy is insane. Abuja today, Kaduna & Rivers tomorrow. Donald Duke gave us the baby boy peng. Wike is the hottest bride in town. Ikpeazu is the odd man here. Now I wonder what could be going on in UNI-FIRE’s Camp?”
@Sharonimouks tweeted, “With the way Wike threw and kicked out Secondus he didn’t know it will be his undoing. People were encouraging him, “good deal with your brothers”. I remember when he brought in Ayu, Ayu looked flourishing. Now Wike’s paying the price of that bad personal grievance.”
@Frankieiwuh tweeted, “Well well well, when U see everyone rushing to rivers state govt house, you will understand it’s for a purpose, wike is pressing their neck and we must appreciate Donald Duke, wike and his camp, we understand few persons in camp are not hapy The goal is simple.. Rescue Nigeria ”
@Zuchradio tweeted, “I Don’t know why you people really fraternise with that failure called ikpeazụ!
Hé has left governance for baby boying and being wike’s echolac box!”
