In a bid to boost professionalism, discipline, and service delivery, the Sokoto State Police Command has commenced a refresher training programme for its officers.
The initiative began on Monday, April 22, 2025, and is in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
According to The PUNCH, at the opening ceremony held at the Command Auditorium on Gwandu Road, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa—represented by the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department—underscored the significance of the training in shaping a more professional and people-centered police force.
“This training is designed to strengthen key aspects of modern policing such as ethics, public civility, and emotional intelligence during difficult situations,” he said.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ahmad Rufa’i, the programme is part of the force’s broader strategy to reposition the Nigeria Police Force in line with international best practices.
“These sessions reflect the Inspector-General’s renewed commitment to building a responsible and responsive police service,” Rufa’i stated.
The training will be conducted in phases to ensure all officers benefit, with further sessions planned in the coming weeks.
The Sokoto State Command reaffirmed its commitment to continuous personnel development, adding that such initiatives are essential for fostering trust and ensuring effective policing within communities.
