The Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, has received his certificate of return, as the senator, representing Yobe North, at the national house of Senate.
Lawan was declared winner of the Saturday 25 national assembly election in Yobe North.
Meanwhile, The Senate President at the current assembly was declared by the supreme court, as the candidate, to represent the All Progressives Congress in the just concluded national assembly election, few days to the election.
Senator Lawan, who contested the presidential election of the party, with Bola Tinubu, had a long legal battle with Bashir Machina, who had earlier clinched the party’s ticket to represent Yobe North, at the National Assembly.
However, after loosing the presidential ticket of the party to Tinubu, during the primary election, Lawan went back to reclaim the party’s ticket, as the candidate to represent Yobe North, at the assembly, without contesting for the primary, and this caused the legal battle, between him and Machina, until fews days to the election, when the matter was laid to rest, after the supreme court judgement that declared Lawan, as the authentic candidate of the party.
