Ahead of November 2023 elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo State, the Peoples Democratic Party has presented certificates of return to its governorship candidates to Dino Melaye, Douye Diri and Sam Anyanwu.
In the party’s primary election earlier this year, the trio emerged as governorship contenders in their respective states.
The granting of the certificate of return followed the party’s Wednesday inauguration of the Campaign Council for the upcoming governorship elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo States.
Governor Lawal Dauda of Zamfara State is the chairman of the 186-member Imo State campaign council. Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State serves as his deputy, while Senator Chukwuka Utazi is the council secretary.
150 people will make up the Kogi State Campaign Council, which will be led by Ademola Adeleke of Osun State as chairman, Governor Caleb Matfwang of Plateau State as vice chairman, and Senator Biodun Olujimi as council secretary.
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State is the chairman of the Bayelsa State campaign council, while Governor Sheriff Obrevwori of Delta State is the vice-chairman, while Gabriel Onyeweife will be the secretary of the council.
The Independent National Electoral Commission set November 11, 2023 as the date for governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.
