The Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has called on political leaders to prioritize the needs of the poor and marginalized.
In a statement on his official X handle on Wednesday, Obi urged leaders to allow God to guide them in making sacrifices and utilizing public resources for the greater good.
Obi, a former Anambra State Governor, appealed to his well-wishers to pray fervently for Nigeria and their respective countries, seeking divine guidance for leaders to prioritize the needs of the most vulnerable.
As he prepares to celebrate his 63rd birthday, he emphasized the importance of providing better opportunities for youth to thrive.
This message aligns with Obi’s campaign focus on poverty reduction, economic growth, and good governance.
His birthday appeal reflects his commitment to inspiring leadership that caters to the needs of all, particularly the marginalized and underprivileged.
“On Friday, July 19th, I will be celebrating my 63rd birthday. As usual, it is a time for personal reflection and thanksgiving to Almighty God, who has graciously granted me life, good health, and the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of humanity.
“Let us present ourselves, as political leaders, to God, so that He may touch our hearts to make sacrifices, utilize public resources for the greater good, and prioritize the needs of the poor and marginalized. Let us also provide better opportunities for our youth to thrive.
“My appeal to my well-wishers and supporters, particularly in Nigeria and Africa, is to use this occasion to fervently pray for our nation and respective countries,” he said.
