The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has called on the Federal Government to probe the recent Army bombing at Tudun Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Obi who made this call during his visit to the victims of the bombing incident at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna on Tuesday, demanded a thorough investigation into the incident while urging the government to provide adequate funding for the military and other security agencies to enhance their operations.
The former Anambra State Governor who regretted that the country has so far recorded 16 accidental military bombings that claimed over 500 lives, claimed that nothing has been done by the Federal Government to avert the recurrence of such tragedies.
However, he expressed the need for the government to support the military, to ensure that incidents like accidental bombings do not happen in the country again.
According to him, adequate funding for the military is key in tackling the contemporary and emerging security challenges confronting the country.
Obi who restated the need for investigation of the military air strike, however, advocated the setting up of a foundation to cater for the victims of the Tudun Biri drone attack, particularly those who have been orphaned by the incident.
