Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has taken to his official twitter page to celebrate the 89th posthumous birthday of, Major General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, 8who he described as ‘dear’.
Ojukwu as he is fondly remembered, died in London after a brief illness.
With a photo of himself and the deceased, the former governor of Anambra state, wrote: “Happy 89th posthumous Birthday to our Dear Ikemba, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. He lived and Died for his people and humanity, God Almighty grant him eternal rest and bless his family always.”
The Odumegwu-Ojukwu was a military officer, statesman and politician who served as the military governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria in 1966 and the president of the secessionist Republic of Biafra from 1967 to 1970, which declared independence from Nigeria during the Nigerian Civil War.
