The Independent National Electoral Commission have declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Nwangele/ Nkwerre/ Isu/ Njaba Federal Constituency of Imo State election, Ugonna Ozurigbo, as the winner of the poll.
According to Vanguard, the collation officer, Prof. Rosetta Okechukwu, declared the result on Friday stating that Ozurigbo polled 19,971 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nwugo Ozurumba of the Labour Party who polled 9,372 votes, while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Harrison Nwadike, came third with 8,991 votes.
The Presidential, Senate and House of Representatives election was held on February 25, however, the declaration of the results is coming two months after, as a result of controversies that trailed the election, making INEC to declare the election inconclusive.
Okechukwu argued that the margin of votes of lead was higher than the number of Permanent Voters Cards, collected in areas the election didn’t take place.
