Founder and Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International, Jerry Eze, has opened up about the origin and evolution of his globally followed prayer platform, the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declaration, widely known as NSPPD.
The cleric made disclosure in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo,
Eze recounted how the initiative, now a spiritual lifeline for millions, didn’t begin with the name it bears today.
The branding according him, came later, as the prayer sessions began to gain traction and purpose.
“It was not called NSPPD from the start. It was after a while that we said, ‘This thing we are doing, what’s the name. We didn’t have a name for it. I didn’t know that people could be famous by praying,” he shared, reflecting on his surprise at the reach of the program.
Despite the fiery energy that characterizes his online prayer sessions, Pastor Eze revealed a stark contrast in his personal demeanor.
He described himself as naturally calm and soft-spoken, far removed from the intense persona viewers see each morning.
“Let me be honest, you see this thing I do, anybody who knows me knows that, that is not me. Coming every morning, ‘Fire! Fire!’, it’s not me. I am very calm… if you see me outside of NSPPD, I seldom talk. People often try to reconcile the guy they see on the internet and me that is sitting here,” he explained.
The pastor confessed that he often struggles to watch his own broadcasts, frequently reminding himself to tone it down. Yet, a compelling inner drive fuels his fervor, his desire to see lives transformed.
“For too long, I couldn’t watch myself after doing NSPPD. When I watch, I will tell myself, ‘take it easy, take it easy. But every time I go, something will be pushing me. I love to see people free,” he said, underscoring the passion that keeps him committed to his divine assignment.
