The North East National Assembly Caucus held a crucial meeting to address the region’s ongoing challenges, and Senator Danjuma Goje retained his position as chairman.
The caucus also made some significant changes to its leadership, electing Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara from Borno State as Deputy Chairman and retaining Honorable Muhammed Bello Dabo as Secretary.
Other key appointments include Senator David JimKuta Yaro as Publicity Secretary, Senator Binos Yaro from Adamawa State as Treasurer, and Honorable Hadiza Abba as Financial Secretary, demonstrating the caucus’s commitment to gender representation in leadership.
During the meeting, members celebrated the establishment of the Northeast Development Commission, their “brain child,” which has significantly supported disaster victims in the region, particularly those affected by flooding and insurgency.
The lawmakers acknowledged the recent devastating flooding in Borno State and expressed their intent to provide targeted assistance to impacted communities.
The caucus also reviewed the current security landscape in the Northeast, noting a decrease in Boko Haram activities due to collaborative efforts with local stakeholders.
The lawmakers remain optimistic that ongoing initiatives will lead to lasting peace and stability in the region. Looking ahead, the Northeast Caucus promised to build on past achievements to enhance development initiatives and address the pressing needs of their constituents.
