Contrary to earlier reports that the Niger military Junta had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the German and Nigerian envoys to leave the country on Friday, AFP has reported this to be “unauthentic by authorities”.
The publication also reported that a similar post relating to the United States ambassador was also deleted, as it was found to be false.
The U.S. State Department said Niger’s foreign ministry has told the U.S. government that images of letters circulating online calling for the departure of certain American diplomatic personnel were not issued by the ministry.
Although, earlier on Friday, Niger’s junta ordered French ambassador Sylvain Itte to leave the country.
