Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Massoudou Hassoumi, participated in the Extraordinary Summit of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States, in Abuja on Thursday.
Hoassoumi represented the ousted President, Mohamed Bazoum at the meeting held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
Premium Politics reported that the meeting deliberated on the next line of actions concerning the Niger coup, following the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum issued to the Nigerien junta.
President Bola Tinubu, who had scheduled another meeting after the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum on Sunday, August 6, issued for the reinstatement of the Nigerien President.
However, the military coup leaders ignored the ultimatum, resulting in additional sanctions by ECOWAS.
Earlier on Thursday, the military Junta in the country declared a new government with Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, as the Prime Minister and 21 new ministers.
