In a bid to enhance food security, the Niger State government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.
The partnership aims to engage National Youth Service Corps members in agricultural activities, leveraging their manpower to boost food production.
Governor Mohammed Umaru-Bago and Minister of Youth Development, Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, signed the MoU at the Government House in Minna on Tuesday.
The governor emphasized the importance of youth empowerment in agriculture, encouraging them to become self-reliant, according to Peoples Gazette.
He also highlighted the state’s agricultural revolution, including the construction of Africa’s largest greenhouse estate and 100 farm estates.
The minister commended the governor’s commitment to the NYSC and praised the partnership as a step towards self-sustaining food security.
This collaboration is expected to significantly contribute to Nigeria’s food production and security.
