The Leaders of the Economic Community of West African States, are presently meeting at an emerging summit in Abuja, to discuss the next step on the current situation in Niger Republic.
According to the Channels Television, the group will on Thursday, August 10, take a further step on the coup plot in Niger, which has been on for over two weeks, in the country.
Premium Politics had earlier reported that the regional bloc of the ECOWAS will be meeting once again, on Thursday, to discuss the way further, after the military group in Niger, boycotted the initial sanction by the group, and also rejected any form of negotiation to return the country to democracy, by the ECOWAS.
ECOWAS had on last week Sunday, issued a 7-day ultimatum to the group, to back out of its plans, and reinstall the ousted elected President of the country, Mohamed Bazoum, who has been put under siege, for the past two weeks, or face ECOWAS troops.
Meanwhile, the military group which had remained adamant about its plans, warned ECOWAS to stay clear of the country or be ready to face the army in the country.
Against the warnings of the ECOWAS, the coup plotters had begun to form its cabinet.
However, the newly appointed Nigerien Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, and the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland had on Wednesday night, unveiled a 21-man, cabinet member of the new military government of the country.
