Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has called on All Progressives Congress governors to regularly visit and support the party’s national headquarters.
He made this statement during a solidarity visit to the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
He said: “I’m a governor that this same National Working Committee worked very hard to ensure that I continue as a governor. They were there with me during the elections, they were there with me during the legal matters, they did not rest until I got my own victory. So, this is my house.
“And as it is my house, I think I have the right to go in any time that I feel comfortable to come to my house and that’s why I am here.
“I feel highly elated that I am even receiving a special reception for coming to my house. But then, it is a wake-up call for all of us, because we the governors should continue to visit our house as regularly as possible so that we are not seen as visitors.”
Governor Sule commended the Ganduje-led National Working Committee for their support during his election and legal challenges, according to Independent.
He emphasized the importance of governors being actively involved in party affairs to avoid being seen as visitors.
Additionally, Governor Sule appealed to Chairman Ganduje to intervene in the crisis affecting the North Central States of the APC.
He acknowledged the party’s internal issues and stressed the need for unity, particularly in the North Central region, where five out of six governors are from the APC.
Chairman Ganduje expressed his delight at the visit and highlighted the need for a strong party institution that supports the government and ensures internal democracy.
National Secretary Ajibola Basiru clarified that upcoming party meetings are routine and not intended to change the leadership.
