The Kogi State Police Command has begun investigations into the mysterious deaths of two individuals—Sheriff Salifu and Blessing Adama—whose naked bodies were discovered in an apartment in the Ankpa Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday. According to him, the lifeless bodies were found inside a room under suspicious circumstances.
Aya disclosed that the incident was first reported by one Salisu Ibrahim, a resident of Alo in Ankpa, who expressed concern after his tenant, Salifu, failed to emerge from his room by 9:31 a.m.
“Mr. Ibrahim came to the station around 12 p.m. to report that his tenant, Sheriff Salifu, was unusually absent from public view. Subsequently, Salifu’s brother gained access into the apartment through the ceiling and discovered the bodies of Sheriff and one Blessing Adama, both lying lifeless and unclothed,” Aya said.
The police spokesperson described the occurrence as “sudden and unnatural,” adding that detectives have commenced an in-depth investigation to determine the cause of death.
“We are not ruling out any possibilities at this point. An autopsy will be conducted, and further inquiries will be made to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Aya assured.
At the time of this report, it remains unclear if the deceased were in a romantic relationship.
The tragic discovery has stirred concern in the Ankpa community as residents await clarity on what led to the deaths.
