The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s determination to leverage Nigeria’s vast gas resources to drive economic growth and development.
During a visit to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board facilities, Ekpo emphasized the importance of harnessing the country’s 209 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves to reduce the cost of living and transportation, and positively impact every part of the country.
The Minister highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for the gas sector, citing initiatives such as gas development, distribution, and penetration.
He also outlined key initiatives, including investments in critical gas infrastructure, promotion of domestic gas utilization, and strengthening NCDMB’s capacity to enforce local content policies, according to Champion.
Ekpo commended NCDMB for its progress in promoting local content and encouraged a focus on Compressed Natural Gas projects to directly impact transportation and cost of living.
He also met with management and staff to discuss driving local content development in the gas sector.
The visit included tours of NCDMB’s facilities, meetings with incubates, and a visit to the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who solicited investments in the gas sector and advocated for accelerated development of the Brass methanol project.
