The highly anticipated meeting between the Organised Labour and President Bola Tinubu has ended without a consensus on a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, saw labour leaders and government representatives engage in intense discussions, but ultimately failed to yield a mutually acceptable figure.
According to Daily Post, the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress maintained their stance on a minimum wage of N250,000, while the Federal Government insisted on its proposed figure of N62,000.
Despite the stalemate, labour leaders expressed optimism that a resolution would be reached soon, hinting at further consultations with the Presidency next week.
The minimum wage saga has been ongoing for months, with Nigerian workers eagerly awaiting a new wage structure.
The development has sparked concerns about the potential for industrial action if a satisfactory agreement is not reached.
