In a significant political shift ahead of the Kaduna local government election scheduled for October 19, 2024, the state Labour Party chairman, Isah Chiroma, and Peoples Democratic Party councillorship candidate, Abdullahi Imrah, have joined the All Progressives Congress.
Chiroma cited the inclusive governance and infrastructural development in Southern Kaduna under Senator Uba Sani’s leadership as reasons for his defection.
He expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the state’s progress under the APC, according to Daily Post.
Similarly, Imrah abandoned his PDP candidacy to support Peter Tanko in the APC, emphasizing the need to work together for the state’s advancement.
Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe welcomed the defectors, congratulating them on joining the “winning team.” She assured them of equal participation and opportunities within the party.
Balarabe expressed confidence in the APC’s victory, citing the impressive turnout of supporters. She urged party members to conduct themselves peacefully during the election.
Peter Tanko Dogara, APC chairmanship candidate for Jema’a Local Government Council, vowed to deliver good governance and transparency to the people.
He prioritized security, healthcare, investment, and empowerment, promising to address the community’s pressing needs.
“I have a lot of things for the community. The issues of security, health, investment, and empowerment are paramount to the community, and these are things that we are looking for,” he said.
The defections and assurances from APC leaders indicate a strong momentum for the party ahead of the local government election.
