Voting has officially commenced in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State for the Local Government Council Elections.
The electoral process began at 8:30 am at Unit 3, 025, Ward 4, Mgbueto Community, as electoral officers arrived to facilitate the voting.
Although, with no police or security operatives in sight, it was gathered that the voting process has been peaceful, creating an environment of calm during the elections.
The Councillorship Candidate for the Action Peoples Party, Omenihu Jackson, expressed satisfaction with the electoral process after casting his vote.
He stated, “The election has been peaceful. People are conducting themselves well, and the process is going on smoothly.”
The leader of the ward, echoed Jackson’s sentiments, Collins Amesi, expressed confidence in the election’s integrity.
He remarked on the absence of police presence, stating, “You can see that the election is going on well without police. We commend the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission for conducting this peaceful process.”
However, Amesi also noted that the lack of police presence raised concerns about the credibility of the election.
