Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has expressed sadness over the death of retired Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Lawal, a former Military Governor of Benue State.
Lawal, who also served as a former minister of youth and sports, passed away on Sunday at the age of 83. Born in Offa, Kwara State on September 14, 1941, he joined the Nigerian Air Force in 1963 as one of its pioneer officers, leaving a significant mark on the institution.
Reacting to this loss, Governor AbdulRazaq, through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye on Monday in Ilorin, extended his condolences to Lawal’s family, the Offa community, and the Nigerian Air Force.
The governor highlighted the profound impact of Lawal’s passing on Nigeria’s military history, particularly within the Nigerian Air Force, where Lawal achieved numerous milestones. “His footprints in the Nigerian Air Force, his fine legacies as a community leader and statesman, and the ideals he lived for will help to preserve his memory,” AbdulRazaq said.
Governor AbdulRazaq also offered prayers for the repose of Lawal’s soul and for the well-being of his family during this difficult time.
