Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, on Tuesday, received an envoy from the International Organization for Migration to discuss the launch of a conflict mitigation project in the state.
In a statement issued by the Governor via his X handle, he received the team led by Laurent De Boeck.
According to the statement, the IMO are in the North-West Nigeria, to establish community reconciliation.
The project is in collaboration with European Union, Mercy Corps & Centre for Democracy and Development.
Receiving the guests at the State House, Katsina, Radda pledged to provide enabling environment for the mission to achieve their goals in the four selected Local Government Areas in the state.
“I received in the audience the Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration, Mr. Laurent De Boeck, for a courtesy visit. Mr. Laurent was in Katsina State for Conflict Mitigation Project Launch & Community Reconciliation in North West, Nigeria.
“The project was initiated by International Organization for Migration in collaboration with European Union, Mercy Corps & Centre for Democracy and Development.Further, the project was initiated to support Nigeria, especially North West in managing conflicts going on in the zone.
“Katsina State Government is among the states that would benefit from the project. It will be implemented in four Local Government Areas – Jibia, Batsari, Danmusa, and Kankara.
“Doubtless, this laudable project will positively impact the lives of the people of Katsina State, especially those ravaged by insecurity. On our part, as Government, we will provide all the necessary support to the Organization for the project to reach fruition.”
