The Kano State residents have boycotted the order of a dawn-to-dusk curfew announced by the State Government, as they trooped out to jubilate with the winner of the state’s governorship election.
The Governor of State, Abdullahi Ganduje has on Monday, imposed a curfew reportedly to avoid a breakdown of law and order, following INEC’s declaration of the NNPP’s candidate as the winner of the governorship election.
The commissioner of information and internal affairs in the State, Muhammad Garba, announced in a statement issued on Monday.
According to him, the decision was to prevent hoodlums from causing chaos in the already tense environment.
He, therefore called on the residents of the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone, or a group bent on causing trouble.
INEC had declared the NNPP candidate, Abba Yusuf, as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Kano, winning the sitting Deputy Governor Nasir Gawuna at the poll.
However, the results have generated a lot of tension in Kano, prompting the government to take proactive measures, averting the looming chaos in the State.
