The chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Kano State, Hashim Dungurawa, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is attempting to impose Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, on the Emirate due to his Yoruba heritage.
Despite the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido as the 16th Emir, Bayero remains in the palace, receiving security protection.
Dungurawa claims Tinubu’s meddling in the Kano Emirate tussle is unjust and warns that it will backfire in 2027, according to NaijaNews.
He urges the President to intervene and ensure the deposed Emir is removed from Kano, ending the debacle.
Additionally, Dungurawa calls for a review of the 2019 election outcomes, disputing Abdullahi Ganduje’s victory as Kano State governor.
This development highlights the ongoing tensions in Kano State’s political landscape, with the NNPP and APC engaged in a bitter struggle for power and influence.
The Emirate tussle has further complicated matters, with ethnic and political considerations coming into play.
As the 2027 elections approach, the situation is likely to remain contentious.
“If the President thinks he will use a few of his kinsmen in Kano and the alleged Bayero’s Yoruba lineage to continue to keep the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero in the State, let him wait for 2027, we will show him that those people will not help him,” Dungurawa warned.
