Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has described President Bola Tinubu as a saviour of Nigeria’s democracy.
The Governor who made this known following the Supreme Court’s decision on the state’s governorship election, last week Friday, commended Tinubu for his display of uprightness, by staying neutral for justice to prevail.
According to him, the president resisted overwhelming public pressure and upheld the people’s mandate amidst a massive crowd that greeted him in Kano.
Yusuf however maintained that the reputation of the judiciary was further enhanced by the Supreme Court’s ruling, to overturn his dismissal by the tribunal and Court of Appeal.
The Kano Governor maintained that certain individuals aimed to hijack the hard-earned mandate of the Kano people.
The candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, further commended the Justices of the Supreme Court for maintaining justice in their decision, thereby preventing the state from facing “unforeseen circumstances.”
“We thank the justices for the judgment because if not for the fair judgment they delivered, we would not have known what would have happened. The verdict has redeemed their image.
“The persons were hell-bent on snatching or stealing our mandate and the reason was because they felt the President, his Vice and others were from APC. Unfortunately, the President refused to interfere,” Yusuf said.
The Governor also said Kano people have conveyed their gratitude to the president for preserving democracy in the state through this gesture.
“I am overwhelmed by the mammoth crowd, who voluntarily trooped out en masse to receive us and journeyed for eight hours on the road to get to this venue.
“We will not let you down. Our doors are open. We will deliver on the dividends of democracy in the areas of education, health, and empowerment among others,” he added.
