Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has praised the progress made in resettling communities displaced by the insurgency in Borno State.
During a visit to Gwoza, Ndume commended the state government, led by Governor Babagana Zulum, for its commitment to rebuilding and resettling affected communities.
Ndume highlighted the success story of Gwoza Local Government Area, where about 10 communities have returned and resumed farming activities. He noted that the military and security agencies have provided necessary security for the people to work on their farms.
“I want to commend the people of Gwoza for their resilience and commitment to self-reliance. People are now back and engaged in farming activities in Gwoza town, Pulka, Warabe, Kirawa, Ngoshe, Izge, Limankara, Bita, and Hambagda,” Ndume said.
The senator also appreciated the Federal Government’s approval of a Federal College of Education in Gwoza, which has received a N200 million take-off grant from the Borno government. Ndume visited resettled communities and distributed support materials to 2,000 people, donating N10 million to the Gwoza Concern Citizens fund, a youth-initiated group mobilizing funds to support the resettlement process.
Ndume’s visit and commendation come as the state government and security agencies continue efforts to rebuild and restore normalcy to communities affected by the insurgency.
The resettlement of displaced persons and rebuilding of infrastructure are crucial steps towards achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
