Polling activities in the Idinrio community of Ewohimi have been stalled as officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission have not yet arrived at the polling unit designated for Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party.
The normally active community has fallen quiet, with residents expressing growing concern over the delay, according to Nigerian Tribune.
A correspondent present at the polling unit reported no signs of INEC personnel or representatives from other political parties.
Voters who gathered in anticipation of casting their ballots voiced their frustrations.
The ongoing absence of INEC officials raises concerns about the commencement of the voting process, leaving residents waiting for updates.
A resident remarked, “This is unusual. By this time, we expected to see the INEC officials setting up. It’s concerning.”
Voters who had gathered expressed their frustration over the situation, with one potential voter stating, “We came out early to exercise our civic duty, but it’s disheartening to see no officials here. We hope they arrive soon.”
