An agro-based organization, Nigerian Youth and Women in Agriculture has called on the Federal government to include women and youth in the implementation of its food security programmes.
The Chief Executive Officer of Fresh and Young Brain Development Initiative, Nkiruka Okonkwo, made the call on the sidelines of the 2023 National Agricultural Show in Nasarawa State on Thursday.
Speaking during the event, Okonkwo noted that women and youths deserved to be prioritized in all plans and efforts aimed at implementing the 12-point presidential declaration of emergency on food security.
The 2023 Agricultural Show is themed: “Towards the Realisation of the Presidential Declaration of Emergency on Food Security,” and was organized by the National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the All Farmers Association of Nigeria.
The action areas of the event, include the prompt distribution of fertilizers and cereals to farmers and households, as well as collaboration between the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources on irrigation and all-year farming.
