The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed the arrest of 27 individuals for impersonation during the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
These suspects, according to the examination body, have already been handed over to the Nigeria Police for swift prosecution.
In a related development, JAMB also announced the blacklisting of four Computer-Based Test centres for failing to meet the required technical standards necessary for the smooth conduct of the UTME.
The affected centres include, Adventure Associate, located behind Sheshe Supermarket, Off Hadejia Road, Kano, Kano State, Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano, Kano State
Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 1, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal
Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 2, same location
While commending the majority of accredited centres, JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining integrity in its operations.
“While JAMB commends the 883 centres that have demonstrated exceptional performance, it unequivocally warns that any centre which failed the ethical or technical standards, regardless of ownership, will be blacklisted,” the board stated in a release issued Friday night by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
Candidates initially assigned to any of the delisted centres have been advised to immediately reprint their examination slips to know their new exam venues and rescheduled dates.
“We regret any inconvenience this may cause, but we will not tolerate excuses by candidates who fail to reprint their slip to get their new schedules,” the statement added.
As of April 25, 2025, JAMB reported that over 900,000 out of the 2,083,600 registered candidates had successfully written their examinations.
Additionally, the board responded to a controversial incident at its Caleb University centre, where some candidates wearing hijabs were allegedly restricted.
JAMB addressed the matter promptly, noting that the action was the result of an overzealous security officer and not a directive from the institution.
“This misguided action was the result of an overzealous security officer.
“We extend our sincere apologies to the affected candidates and commend the leadership of both the centre and the university for their prompt intervention, which ensured that no candidate suffered undue disadvantage,” the board clarified.
