The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Ebonyi State, Chukwuma Nwandugo, has dismissed rumours that he has dumped his party and currently supporting contender in the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Ifeanyi Odii.
He reiterated that he was still in the race for the governorship election in the state come March 11, 2023.
While describing the allegation of his porpoted defection to the PDP on Wednesday as the handiwork of mischief makers and political propagandists, he made it clear that, nothing like that is happening, noting that he is still in the race, “I’m still the candidate of the AA in Ebonyi State and my name is still very intact on the INEC portal,” he said.
He revealed this in a statement signed by the Director-General of Nwandugo Governorship Campaign Council, Micheal Obasi, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH on Thursday.
Rumours have since Wednesday been making the rounds that Chukwuma has declared his support for the PDP governorship candidate in the state, ahead of the March 11 polls.
The statement reads: “Nwandugo Governorship Campaign Council has been drawn to a figment of social media report currently making the rounds that the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in the 2023 general election in Ebonyi State, Chukwuma Nwandugo, has been dumped by the party and that the same AA in the state has adopted the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Chief Ifeanyi Odii as its choice candidate in the elections.
“This is nothing but a lie from the pit of hell orchestrated by the Chairman of the AA in Ebonyi State. This is mere propaganda to discourage the teaming supporters of the AA governorship candidate in the state who has rather remained undaunted in the face of seeming pressure.
“This is to clear the air on the argument and or veracity over the purported move by the AA Chairman in the state, Godwin Ukwu, to have adopted Ifeanyi Odii. We make bold to state that Nwandugo is still in the race and has not and can never step down for any governorship candidate. He is still very much committed in the governorship race.
“Nwandugo remains the governorship candidate of the AA in Ebonyi and his name is intact in the portal of INEC for the 2023 general election in Ebonyi.”
