The former Head of Service in Rivers State, Mr. George Nwaeke, has dismissed reports alleging that he was kidnapped, stating that he is currently safe and staying in Abuja.
The clarification came after an interview with his wife, Florence Nwaeke, who claimed that her husband had been abducted and coerced into making a statement accusing the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, of masterminding the bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly and certain oil pipelines.
In a video posted on social media, Nwaeke responded to the claims made by his wife, emphasizing that he was not in any danger. “I’m in Transcorp Abuja. I came in here this morning to meet with security agencies to report myself and the things that are happening in Rivers state,” he explained. “Actually, I was Head of Service until Monday 24th and I resigned because of things that are happening.”
Nwaeke further stated that he was unaware of the circumstances surrounding the interview given by his wife. “After the press interview that I granted, I just saw a video of my wife trending where they went to goad her and fed her with all kinds of fallacies that I have been kidnapped,” he said. “They told her that I have been kidnapped. I want to clear this, I am not kidnapped. I am in Abuja, this is Transcorp Hotel where I am lodging.”
The former Head of Service accused others of feeding his wife false information. “They told her I have been kidnapped and wrote a script for her to say all sorts of things,” Nwaeke added, stressing that his wife was unaware of his professional affairs. “I am the Head of Service and I am on Oath. My wife does not know the things that happen in my office and I don’t discuss anything about office with her.”
Nwaeke concluded by assuring the public that he is safe and not a victim of any abduction. “That script they wrote for her is not her voice. So to clear the air, I am safe and I am in Abuja,” he affirmed.
