The former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has assured his supporters in the Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress of his readiness to cater for their welfare.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Aregbesola made this declaration in Osogbo on Saturday during a luncheon organised for him by friends and loyalists as part of activities marking his homecoming.
During the event, the former minister called for unity among members of Osun APC. He said his return will lead to the restrengthening of the party in the state.
Osun APC has faced a setback in the last few years following a political feud between Aregbesola and the former Governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola.
Political pundits have said the infighting contributed to Oyetola’s defeat in the July 2022 gubernatorial poll.
He said, “I am deeply grateful to you, all. You have all shown me uncommon love and the reassurance that you are indeed with us.
“We are grateful. We will not let you down. We will soon begin a statewide tour to see all of our people and to assure them that we are fully back to see to their welfare.
“We are fully committed to strengthening the APC.”
A former Speaker of the State Assembly, Najeem Salaam, and the luncheon planning committee chairman, described Aregbesola as a man of many parts.
He said in Aregbesola’s 24 years of public service, he had shown compassion, diligence, uncommon loyalty and determination to improve the lot of the populace.
