Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has denied ordering the removal of the flags of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
There had been reports on social media that the governor directed his chief security officer to remove the party’s flags at the seat of power in the state.
But speaking in Port Harcourt, Wike described the report as fake, saying he doesn’t waste time on falsehood.
“You can imagine the kind of fake news people bandy about. I don’t waste my time on such falsehoods,” he added
According to The PUNCH, the governor made this known when he received the state Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Chris Finebone, and a former state Chairman of the APC, Dr Davis Ikanya, at his residence on Thursday, where the former officially dumped the APC for the ruling party in the state.
Finebone, an ally of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is a kinsman of the state PDP governorship candidate, Siminialaye Fubara.
The governor, however, called on the people to close ranks and support the PDP ahead of the 2023 general elections.
