Legendary Nigerian music icon 2Baba has offered rare and candid insights into his personal life, wellness philosophy, and the mindset that keeps him grounded amid the intense scrutiny and demands of fame.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with B2G Network, the revered singer reflected on how he maintains balance in an industry known for its pressures.
When asked about his wellness and self-care routine, 2Baba, whose real name is Innocent Ujah Idibia, gave a lighthearted but revealing answer:
“I drink water a lot and I mind my business a lot,” he said with a smile. “I don’t have any die-hard routine, no gym routine. Once in a while, I jog, and when I perform on stage, that’s my exercise. I just try to rest as much as I can.”
Despite not following a rigorous fitness regimen, the artiste pointed out that rest and personal peace play a crucial role in his physical and mental health.
In addition to wellness, 2Baba spoke strongly about personal accountability, a trait he believes is essential for growth and navigating life’s challenges.
“Part of the answer is accepting responsibility for your actions. That is the key. You don’t have to deceive yourself—when you do, na yourself you dey deceive,” he stated firmly.
The interview also delved into how he copes with the emotional toll of public scrutiny and widespread criticism—something celebrities face regularly.
“Sometimes when people talk, you become the subject of jokes and malicious comments. It hurts, it gets to you. But you have to understand that this is the way of the world. Try and grow some thick skin,” he said. “I just tell myself, ‘I know where I’m going is bigger than all these things.’”
