The Odimma Orsu Initiative in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State has expressed satisfaction with Governor Hope Uzodinma over the decreasing insecurity witnessed in the region.
The group, which lamented what it termed the wave of insecurity pervading the region, lauded Uzodinma for bringing insecurity to the lowest level.
According to a statement, they said Uzodinma listened to their cries and fought bravely against the Eastern Security Network and Indigenous Peoples of Biafra fomenting the troubles.
The statement read: “To followers of recent security developments in Imo state, particularly in Orsu LGA where ESN/ IPOB criminals have been on a rampage for over three years now, the seemingly intractable activities of the murderous criminals characterized by kidnappings, carjacking and sale, human organ trafficking and harvesting, human headhunting, cannibalism, arson, looting of personal/household properties, serial rape/girl child sexual abuse, forced marriage and other miscellaneous acts of terrorism have led to the grounding of every form of business activities, the involuntary exile of illustrious indigenes, and the total despoliation of the various communities leaving aged men and women including other vulnerable denizens stranded in penury, loneliness, acute hunger, and uncertainty.
“Though the wave of insecurity permeated the entire South East, the situation in Imo State was worsened by the presence of their headquarters and so-called “Supreme Council” in the ‘Mother Valley’ located within the precincts of the state, Orsu LGA in particular. Hostility reached a crescendo following the elimination of a key terrorist named Ikonso and the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu who has been undergoing treason trials since 2021.
“Imo State is blessed to have a brave, ebullient, and compassionate governor in the person of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, who hearkened to the cry of anguish of our people and has fought so bravely against the marauding vermins in Imo state over the last three years. Precisely on Sunday, February 11, 2024, the Imo State government ably led by the indefatigable and brave governor, boldly seized the bull by its horns when all security apparatus including the Nigerian Armed Forces, the DSS, Civil Defence, the Nigerian Police, and the State’s Owned Security Agency were deployed to Orsu LGA in a Joint Operation to finally put a stop to the nefarious banditry of ESN IPOB in the locality.
“In the course of the attack, the so-called mother valley housing the “Supreme Council” was overrun and destroyed with sophisticated weapons and communication gadgets of the ESN criminals recovered. The success of the joint operation was welcomed by an unprecedented outpouring of joy across Orsu and Imo State in general. One month and a few weeks after, the indigenes and other stakeholders in Orsu LGA as represented by Odimma Orsu Initiative are proud to acknowledge that the selfless, dogged, and determined effort of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo state has paid off even as security agents are still busy clearing the remnants of the terrorists in Orsu LGA.
