A group, the Guardian of Democracy and Development Initiative, has called for the immediate suspension and prosecution of the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani.
GDDI in a press conference addressed by its convener, Comrade Danesi Momoh Prince, demanded that the party Chairman should be prosecuted over forgery and perjury.
Prince during the press conference which has the candidates whose death certificates were allegedly forged, Muhammad Ali and Nafiu Haruna present, described the Chairman’s action as criminal, diabolic, and selfish, saying he deserves to be sitting in a maximum security prison.
It would be recalled that the 2023 House of Representatives candidate for Nasarawa Constituency, Kano State, Musa Mohammed Ali, demanded a public apology from Sani, and the National Secretary of the party, Victor Fingesi.
Ali in his petition, also demanded the withdrawal of a letter which was forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission, which he alleged was attached to a forged death certificate in his name.
According to the party Chieftain, the party chairman and secretary had, before the general elections, sent the letter to INEC, notifying the Commission of his replacement, claiming he was dead.
Meanwhile, Ali was said to be the legitimate House of Representatives candidate of the ADP for Nassarawa Federal Constituency, Kano State, before Sani and others allegedly forged a death certificate, proceeded to swear an affidavit and wrote a letter to the INEC requesting his replacement.
Reacting to the development, the group described the death certificate, with No.922227, backed up with an affidavit which was issued on the 28th of October 2022 at Mai Kuluo registration centre, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, as a sham.
The purported death certificate claimed that Ali died at home in Kano.
“We therefore call on the party chairman to immediately resign, failure of which ADP hierarchy should immediately commence the process of his impeachment, arrest, and prosecution,” the group said.
“We will not stop until he is disgracefully sacked as the National Chairman of ADP and prosecuted for his criminal attempt to destroy party democracy and the national political process,” the group said.
According to the Daily Post, the National Chairman of ADP, YY Sani, while speaking on the issue, did not deny the allegations but said that the party, and not him in person, forged the death certificate.
He asked, “Is the allegation against me as a person or as the Chairman of ADP? They’re two different things.”
Replying when he was told that he had been accused of forging the death certificate of some candidates and declaring them dead, Sani said, “I didn’t do that as a person. It was the party that did that.”
The ADP Chairman further added “It’s false. What they’re saying it’s false.”
