The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has asked voters in the state to support PDP candidates in the State Assembly elections on March 11 so that he can serve them better as he pointer out achievements he has made so far.
According to Sun News, the governor’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, revealed on Saturday that Adeleke made this claim in his speech before to the start of his 100 days in office.
Speaking in Yoruba, Governor Adeleke thanked the electorate for their support in the general election on February 25 and the July 16 governorship election, adding, “For me to continue serving you properly, I kindly ask that you vote for the 26 House of Assembly candidates of the PDP.”
“I’ll be working with them as a team. They are crucial to putting the Imole agenda into action. The key to maximizing democratic benefits is a State Assembly that is completely under PDP control.
“The election on Saturday is important for Osun state. Voting for those candidates for the Assembly is also a vote for me. To better serve you and finish the task we started, I need them. Another victory for me and the PDP will hasten the already-made development and propel our state to new heights.”
Adeleke therefore called for a violent-free election, stating that voting should not result in the killing or maiming of people because it has to do with exercising one’s electoral rights.
He stated that despite the financial challenges, he has been able to fulfill his campaign promises. He said, “I have stopped breaches in state finances; launched Osun on the tech revolution, stabilized the then heavily politicized public service; introduced farmers intervention initiative, and a lot more.”
Adeleke added that he has approved nearly one billion naira for the development of Osun rural projects, implemented mass water projects across 332 wards, started school and health center rehabilitation, restarted work on the Osogbo-Kwaran-Kwara border road, started mass road reconstruction throughout Osun state, brought sanity back to traditional institutions, and renovated Abere Bola Ige.
“I have also begun work on the Light Up Osun project, begun planning for the creation and implementation of the Osun Climate Change Policy and Strategy, introduced the Imole Youth Corps with new age tasks, started the implementation of the Osun State Tourism Policy Plan, expanded the Imole Medical Surgery Initiative across nine federal constituencies, and shaken up the solid mineral sector for accountability.”
“My administration is resurrecting and launching the Osun bribed fiber optic project in order to increase Internet services. We are now upgrading the Osun State University’s infrastructure while overhauling the state’s transport management system and we promise to do more,” he said.
